Symphonic FAQ

Answers to common questions about music distribution, royalties, transfers, and more.

Getting Started

How do I sign up?

You can get started here to create your account and choose the plan that’s right for you. The sign-up process is quick, and you’ll be ready to start distributing your music in minutes.

Who can distribute music through Symphonic?

We accept independent artists, record labels, managers, and all types of music creators. Whether you’re a solo artist or managing multiple acts, Symphonic can support your releases.

What plans are available and what do they cost?

  • Starter Plan: $19.99/year, keep 100% of your royalties.

  • Partner Plan: Percentage-based, customized per agreement.

  • Some services, like marketing or publishing, may carry additional fees under both plans.

If I release music through Symphonic, am I locked into a long-term, exclusive deal?

If a release is submitted to DSPs through Symphonic, that release cannot be re-distributed via another distributor until the end of the contractual term. Therefore, the exclusivity only applies to specific distributed content and not to the artist or label themselves.

Can I upgrade or change my plan later?

Yes. If you’re on the Starter plan, you can apply to upgrade to the Partner plan at any time through your account.

What is the difference between Symphonic Partner and Starter?

Partner plans are typically catered toward more established labels and artists. Our Starter plan is a DIY (do it yourself) plan that allows you to start your journey in the music industry and Symphonic.

Switching to Symphonic

Will I lose listeners or plays when transferring my music?

No. As long as your releases are migrated properly, your streams, playlists, and stats remain intact. TransferTrack helps ensure your ISRCs, UPCs, metadata, and audio files match your existing releases, and our team is available to guide you through the process. Download The Ultimate Guide to Catalog Migration to learn more.

How long does it take to transfer music?

Most transfers are completed within 5–10 business days, depending on the number of releases and platforms involved.

Can I transfer music from multiple distributors at once?

Yes! TransferTrack allows batch transfers from multiple distributors, ensuring all streams and metadata are preserved.

Music Distribution

Can I distribute cover songs?

Yes, as long as the proper licenses are obtained. We recommend EasySongLicensing.com, though you may use any licensing service you prefer.

How many partners do you distribute to and which ones are they?

We distribute to hundreds of digital platforms and DSPs worldwide. Check out our full list of partners and note that we are constantly expanding our network.

What is your coverage in Asian markets?

We distribute to platforms like Tencent, Alibaba, NetEase, JioSaavn, KK Box, and Express In Music. As new platforms emerge, we continue adding them to our distribution network.

What audio file formats are accepted?

We accept WAV, FLAC, AIFF, and high-quality MP3 files. For best results, we recommend WAV at 16-bit or higher.

Do I need ISRC or UPC codes?

Yes, every release requires an ISRC for each track and a UPC for the release. If you don’t have them, Symphonic can help you generate them.
