Sync Licensing

Monetize your music in TV, Film, Ads, Promos, Trailers and Video Games.

Sync Licensing for Film, TV & Media

We work with a curated group of artists and rights holders to pursue sync opportunities across film, television, advertising, and video games.

What Is Sync Licensing?

Sync licensing is the process of granting permission to use music in timed relation (or "in synchronization") with visual media.

For independent artists, sync can be one of the most valuable ways to extend the life of a catalog beyond streaming alone.

At Symphonic, we take a selective approach and focus on artists whose music is easy to license and aligned with current opportunities.

Sync can help artists:

  • Earn meaningful revenue from sync placements, including payment for the use of your music and performance royalties collected by PROs like ASCAP and BMI
  • Reach new audiences through sync placements, with added discovery through platforms like Shazam
  • Build long-term catalog value beyond streaming platforms
  • Strengthen artist visibility and grow your fanbase

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my music guaranteed to be placed?

No. Sync placements depend on many factors including creative fit, timing, and project requirements There are unfortunately no certainties.

Do you accept all submissions?

No. We review submissions carefully and only onboard music that aligns with current opportunities.

Can previously released or unreleased music still be pitched for sync?

Yes. Anything can be pitched for sync licensing as long as the recordings are high quality and the rights can be properly cleared. Whether or not it was released is not important, in fact unreleased music can be even more valuable than released music since it’s perpetually new!

Do I need to own my rights to be considered?

Very few artists control 100% of their publishing and master rights, so if you have collaborators and outside rights holders it’s important to be sure that they’re willing to sign on to a rep deal so that we can represent your music on a one-stop basis. If you co-write with lots of writers signed with publishers, that might result in us not approving your application.

How long does it take to get placements?

There is no fixed timeline, but in most cases it takes months if not years. This is not a fast process and requires quite a lot of work to produce results. Patience is a must!

Ready to Explore Sync Opportunities?

If you have high-quality music and want to be considered for TV, film, ad, and game placements, submit your music and let our team review whether there’s a fit.
